Relying on 20 years of audio expertise, Hercules has created this active monitoring speaker system to be a natural and logical evolution into its DJing product range which was previously comprised of only DJ controllers.

Because a successful performance depends on a careful mix preparation, monitoring speakers are an essential item in any DJ's personal studio - for beginners, amateurs and expert DJs alike. To this end, the Hercules XPS 2.0 80 DJ Monitor speaker system offers precise sound restitution, enabling DJs to become aware of every detail in their sound and to hone their mix to perfection. The XPS 2.0 80 DJ Monitor speaker system was developed with the assistance of Hercules' specialized DJing teams, and has been subjected to in-depth testing by Hercules' audio engineers. All have worked with high-end materials and components to deliver the precise, homogenous and quality sound that DJs demand.

The XPS 2.0 80 DJ Monitor speaker system comprises 2 compact wooden satellites, designed to reduce clutter in your home studio. The front face's curvature has been calculated to ensure a clear and balanced sound flow. Each satellite features a silk-dome tweeter, for sharp and pure treble. At the center of each satellite, a 4-inch woofer with a Kevlar diaphragm - a material offering consistent performance, that is less subject to deformation than other materials - delivers ample and homogenous medium and bass sounds.

Finally, the XPS 2.0 80 DJ Monitor satellites' front face features a dual port system, often required by DJs to receive and assess all the bass frequencies in their creations. Offering simple control over advanced features, the XPS 2.0 80 DJ Monitor speaker system features user-friendly front-mounted buttons that allow DJs to adjust the general volume, as well as bass and treble levels.

Audio system installation

To ensure optimum speaker positioning, the satellites must form a 60 Degrees angle with each other and the same angle with the user. Also, the listening height must be adjusted at a level located between the tweeter and the wide-band medium speaker.

Hercules engineers have taken great care when designing the XPS 2.080 DJ Monitor in a professional anechoic room.
this research enabled them to fine-tune the wide-range medium speaker's Kevlar texture and the tweeter's silk dome, to optimize the position, size and shape of the vents and to calculate the optimum curvature of the satellites' front face, in order to obtain a sharp and balanced sound flow.

Satellite

Satellite is the name given to a speaker which does not reproduce bass frequencies: this speaker is therefore the satellite to a subwoofer. In a X.1 kit (2.1, 4.1, 5.1 , 6.1 or 7.1), the digit before the point 1, i.e. the 2, 4, 5, 6 or 7, represents the number of satellites in the speaker kit.

RCA

An RCA connector (also known as a phono connector) is a connector used to transfer analog signals. Analog audio: RCA is the most commonly used connector for connecting Hi-Fi components to one another. Each RCA plug transfers one channel: the left channel via a white RCA plug, the right channel via a red RCA plug. Composite video: composite video is generally transmitted via a yellow RCA plug. RCA is also used to transfer a stereo or 5.1 (Dolby Digital or DTS) digital S/PDIF signal over a single connector, between a DVD player and a Dolby decoder, for example. An RCA connector is composed of a circular central pin 2mm in diameter, which carries the signal, insulated inside of a ring which surrounds the central pin without touching it, at a distance of 2mm from the pin.

Line input

Analog audio input designed to receive an unamplified sound signal. There are 2 line levels: the general public line level, at -10dBv: this is the signal output level of a Hi-Fi component connected to an amplifier via a connector known as a line input. The professional line level, at +4dBu, is much more powerful, and is used to connect studio or public-address (PA) equipment.

Watts RMS

Power in Watts RMS represents the continuous electrical power delivered by an amplifier to speakers.

Watts Peak Power

Watts Peak Power represents the peak electrical power delivered by an amplifier to speakers.

Stereo

Abbreviation of stereophonic. A stereophonic signal is a signal transmitted over 2 channels: one channel on the left and one channel on the right, whereby the sound transmitted is different on each channel.

Magnetic shielding

Magnetic shielding shields against the magnetic field generated by speakers, for example. If a speaker is touching a CRT screen (television or computer), magnetic shielding is necessary to avoid disturbing the display.
