LEXICON LAMBDA DESKTOP RECORDING STUDIO
USB audio I/O mixer & MIDI interface.
Includes Steinberg Cubase LE & the Lexicon Pantheon reverb VST plug-in.
New from Lexicon Pro is a new USB desktop recording solution, the Lambda Desktop Recording Studio. The system includes everything needed for portable and professional recordings, including the Lambda Studio USB I/O mixer, Steinberg's Cubase LE multi-track PC and Mac OS X recording software as well as the Lexicon Pantheon reverb VST plug-in.
The original Lexicon Pro Omega Studio integrated computer recording system includes the Omega 8x4x2 USB I/O mixer with a VST version of the world-class Pantheon Lexicon reverb plug-in, coupled with Steinberg's cross-platform Cubase LE featuring 48-track audio / 64 MIDI tracks, up to eight VST instruments, two insert/four aux sends per channel and ASIO drivers.
Now joining the Omega Studio is the new Lexicon Lambda Desktop Recording Studio, a bus-powered USB audio I/O Mixer and MIDI interface that comes as a complete recording solution with Cubase LE and Pantheon VST Reverb plug-in. Based on the Omega Studio, the Lambda Studio features two XLR microphone inputs designed by dbx, with TRS inserts and switchable +48V phantom power. Rounding out the full complement of connectivity on the Lambda are two TRS balanced 1/4" line inputs, two TRS balanced line outputs, a 1/8" front-panel mounted high-power headphone output jack, a front-panel ultra-high-impedance instrument input, and MIDI input and output.
Conveniently powered directly from the USB bus, the Lambda Studio can stream four channels of 44.1 or 48 kHz audio at either 16- or 24-bit resolution to Mac or PC computers. Users can record two tracks at once from up to four input sources, as well as recording MIDI. The microphone and line inputs have individual level controls and peak meters, and are summed at the analog-to-digital bus. Mono / stereo monitoring is provided, as is Zero-latency Direct / Playback Monitoring, allowing for delay-free overdubs. A 2-channel, 4-segment LED bargraph meter indicates input level, and phantom power and USB LED indicators provide status information.

As with all the recording solutions from Lexicon Pro, the Lambda Studio and Omega Studio hardware can be used with almost any recording and sequencing software the user prefers.
Rounding out the Lambda Studio package, the acclaimed Pantheon VST reverb plug-in offers a wealth of factory programs drawing from the respected Lexicon heritage, controlled by an intuitive user interface with editable parameters.
With the Omega Studio, Lexicon set new standards for quality and capability in a USB-based audio recording system. Now with the Lambda Studio, Lexicon has taken that quality and power and made it accessible to musicians and recording enthusiasts at unprecedented price points.
| Q: Is it possible to use more than one Lambda on my computer at the same time? |
A: The answer to this depends on what software you are using. On a Windows based machine, there are two different driver modes available for the Lambda, standard WDM mode and ASIO mode. If you are using software that is compatible with the standard windows WDM driver mode you should be able to use more than one Lambda (granted the software supports multiple devices and or simultaneous inputs). With ASIO mode and software that requires ASIO mode drivers, it is not possible to use more than one Lambda at a time. The ASIO mode will only allow for one device to be addressed at a time. On the MAC, this limitation can be avoided by using the utility program available in OS X called Audio/MIDI setup. If you have more than one device (such as more than one Lambda) you should be able to combine them in the Audio/MIDI setup as one "aggregate" device so that the software recognizes all the inputs and outputs as one device rather than separate ones. |
| Q: I connected the Lambda to my computer and now I cannot hear any sounds from my computer's speakers. What happened? |
A: If your computer speakers are connected to the computer directly then they are most likely connected to your computer's internal sound card. When you connect the Lambda, the computer will then play sound to the Omega instead of the internal sound card. The best option is to connect the computer's speakers directly to the Line outputs on the back of the Lambda. This may require an adapter cable to convert the 1/8" mini jack to the 1/4" jacks on the Lambda. |
| Q: Why am I not able to use the Pantheon Reverb plug in with any other software application? |
A: The Lexicon Pantheon VST software plug-in that is bundled with the Lambda was designed specifically for the Cubase LE software application. Pantheon is not available as a separate plug-in. This version of Pantheon is tied to the Cubase LE application and is not available for use in other software recording applications. |
| Q: I am using the Lambda in Cubase LE with the VST instruments. The latency (delay) is high when using virtual instruments. How can I lower the latency? |
A: The latency can be adjusted slightly with the ASIO control panel. If you go to the Devices, Device Setup, VST multitrack section, you can make sure you have the ASIO driver set for Lambda ASIO. Then, click on the button that says “control panel”. Adjust the buffer settings to “more CPU” to see if you can effectively lower the resulting latency amount. |
