MARANTZ PMD661 DIGITAL RECORDER
Marantz has come out with a new, portable two-track digital audio recorder that is quite exciting. It is smaller than the PMD660 unit, yet features XLR mic/line inputs, 48vPhantom powering, and 24 bit recording! It uses SD cards. Measures approx 3 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches.
Based on the innovative design of our hugely popular PMD660, the rugged and robust Marantz PMD661 incorporates a wide range of technical advances and convenience features that help it excel in virtually any application. Big enough to accommodate dual XLR microphones and light enough for handheld use, the PMD661 offers exceptional recording quality in literally any location.
For critical field applications like electronic news gathering, sound capture on location and music recording, the PMD661 provides the audio precision of 24-bit, 96 kHz digital recording. Its exceptional resolution and file-based architecture makes it perfect for critical stereo recording of music and sound effects in the field, while true mono recording and lower bit rates make it equally appropriate for meetings, conferences, legal proceedings and podcasts. The ergonomic control panel, one-touch transport system and large, bright OLED display make it easy for both seasoned pros and first-tine users to record with confidence. This portable solid-state recorder uses readily available SD or SDHC media cards, and gets over five hours of operation from four AA alkalines.

Ergonomic Design
The large, easy-view OLED display on the PMD661 front panel provides at-a-glance system status, with multifunction buttons under the display screen that prompt the user through recording, editing and file marking with ease. The one-touch transport system makes recording, playback, and transcription operations intuitive and straightforward. Tracking audio levels is easy with the 10-segment LED meter, cleverly angled for easy viewing from the front or the top.
Editing and Playback Features
Whether monitoring audio, editing digital files or transcribing, the PMD661 offers a full range of tools to assist you. Copy Segment and File Divide functions allow instant field editing. In addition, the included PMD Mark Editor software provides extensive editing functions on PC for immediate distribution. A lithium battery tracks real time, allowing Timer Record and Timer Playback. Transcription functions include playback pitch control and user-definable skipback.
Rugged Portability
The size, weight and construction of the PMD661 are carefully designed to provide lightweight portability, tabletop stability and field-worthy ruggedness. Four AA alkalines provide over five hours of record time, and NiMH rechargeables are also accommodated. The case is made from high-impact ABS plastic with metal faceplate, and the XLR and headphone jacks are ruggedized for field use.
