The Big Namba Studio Backpack was created by our design team of musician's and dj's to provide an optimum carrying solution for a laptop mobile studio or computer dj requiring a large control surface and using up to a 17? laptop computer. We call it a high performance bag because of the construction detail and the extreme high grade 1680D poly nylon materials used.
Designed for security, the Big Namba backpack has many musician friendly details that separate it from the other solutions on the market. Extremely long lockable zippers and unsnappable hinges which allow easier packing, a cable management system that makes it easy to keep cables organized, special material that wicks moisture away from your back, and even a secret stash pocket (for your iLoks, etc.) are a few of the special features.
Namba Gear announces the addition of a new color combination to their line of musician's studio backpacks. The new color is a midnight blue exterior with a bright orange interior. As with all of their bags, Namba Gear's bright interior color makes it easy to find gear and cables, even in dark backstage areas.
Both the Studio & Remix Backpacks are designed to transport a portable studio including laptop, controller, audio device, mics, headphones, and more. The bags even feature a cable management system and come with cable ties.
Other features of the Studio and Remix backpacks include: lockable zippers, holds 12'' vinyl and audio devices; convenient carry handle; extra thick padding; extra wide shoulder straps with integrated phone pocket.
What Is A Cable Management System?
One of the most common problems for many folks are the tangle of cables jammed inside a bag or backpack, not to mention unraveling the mess when you unpack. To help alleviate this problem, Namba Gear provides a cable management system on the Big Namba and Kava bags. The idea for solving this cable-cluster nightmare is so simple that you wonder why no one thought of it before.
The Cable Management System consists of two ingredients.
1. Cable Ties - these handy Velcro and cloth strips come with the Big Namba and Kava bags and can be wrapped around the cables to hold them in a secure manner and keep them from getting tangled with other cables.
2. Cable Hook - this cloth and Velcro loop is located on the inside front flap of the Kava bag and against the back wall of both compartments in the Big Namba backpack. Simply insert the secured, cable-tied cables into the loop and use the Velcro closure to lock them in place.
Your cables will drop into an elastic pocket on the Big Namba, further securing the cables as well as protecting any gear from being scratched. The strap closure on the front flap of the Kava bag can be expanded to hold multiple cables.

Which MIDI Keyboard Controllers & DJ Controllers Will Fit Into the Big Namba Studio Backpack?
As the Namba Gear designers were doing their research on the ultimate perfect size for the Big Namba Studio Backpack, they were also keeping in mind the current carry-on size restrictions of the airline industry. Although there is a standard, which is 22? x 14? x 9? or 45? total, every airline has their own size restrictions which can sometimes vary even within a single airline depending on the size of aircraft or the attitude of the check-in agent.
So we had to look at both the exterior size of the backpack as well as try to maximise the interior space to include the largest number of controllers. M-Audio's Axiom25 was chosen as the measuring stick, because we knew that if we could get this "big boy" to fit and still follow the airline restrictions that we would be in good shape with most of the controllers on the market.
This lead to the development of the unhinging side on the large compartment, so that the backpack could open 180 degrees and the controller could actually be packed into a flat case.
Unfortunately, that did leave a few controllers unprotected and stranded on the sidewalk because they were just too big to fit our criteria for us to recommend them for the Big Namba.
The Novation XioSynth 25 which has on-board sounds as well as being a MIDI controller is a little wide at 12.54?. Likewise, the Stanton CM.205/CM.203 dj controllers are just a little fat at 4.29? depth to recommend packing alongside your laptop. These Korg, Novation & Stanton controllers can be made to fit, just not with our recommendation considering the bag design. The Yamaha KX-25 at just under 20? long and the Korg MicroX at 23.86? long will not fit; don't even try.
So what controllers do fit inside a Big Namba Studio Backpack?
The result is a backpack that will accommodate a majority of controllers and should still fit in the overhead compartment of most airlines, bearing in mind that each airline can change their minds about size restrictions and some smaller planes will simply not accommodate anything much bigger that a construction worker's lunchbox. Sorry about having to include the caveat, but it is true.
