The new series of Ortofon DJ-cartridges dedicated to QBert is a result of latest studies on the reactions between tone-arm, cartridge and groove - during the battle. The balance between flexibility in the stylus unit and mass of tone-arm became decisive for the outmost ability – to stay in the groove.

But also high output is normally asked for among DJ´s - and in this respect the new QBert series is almost second to none yielding 11 mVolts – and not to forget the well known Ortofon sound quality.

Welcome to wonderful Copenhagen, our destination was to a little town called NAKSKOV. on a small island a few hundred miles drive south. We wanted to create the perfect needle. Per Winfeld is really one of the main reasons we took this endeavor on. It was like learning from the true Obi Wan Kanobi of the science and technology of sound. Per has designed the world standard needles for the last 30+ years and hasn't been beat! He wants us to take him further than his unbeatable self! Cool. A challenge. His mechanisms are one of a kind pieces all made by him to help build our needle in the same precision as he does . From the Concordes to OMs , they are all made here in their labs. Nothing is outsourced everything from the rubber and metal compounds are created here. After 2 years, we're glad to release the outcome of our work, testing, and final product. Notes about the Ortofon QBERT versus the Ortofon Scratch:

The pink Scratch cartridge design goal was to have a compromise between sound quality, anti-skip and "abuse resistance" (ie damage to the cantilever). Sound quality, in this case, also relates to the "detail" of the scratch as oppoesed to a "blur".

Straight arms change the whole geomtry of stylus angle and "tweaking" can affect the results from table to table.

The high output of the QBERT can overload older DJ mixers, but current models should have no problem. All Ortofon styli are interchangeable (except the GT) so the Qbert stylus on a Pros S or Nightclub black cartridge body will yield same performance of the QBERT at a lower output volume.

Once broken in the Q-BERT's really do stick better than any other cartridge without tearing up the record.
